Title: The Corridor of Chained Hours
At the threshold where time folds in upon itself,
a man walks barefoot across shattered mirrors of clocks.
The chains do not bind his ankles: they are arteries of the sky
dripping oxidized seconds and unforgiving midnights.
The faces hang like rotten fruit from an inverted tree,
XII devours I, the hands bite their own tails in a suicidal spiral,
and the firmament is nothing but a backdrop
where someone forgot to turn off the last lamp of twilight.
Each step resounds like the final heartbeat never granted,
the echo ricochets among gears that no longer mesh with anything,
and yet he moves forward,
for to step back would be to admit the path once existed.
The hours stare at him with pupils of fractured quartz,
offer him memorials of futures that will never arrive,
whisper promises in an alphabet of rust:
“Stay. Here the end is only another beginning badly written.”
But he does not turn.
His shadow, braver than he, has already gone ahead a hundred lives,
and waits for him at the end of the corridor,
where chains turn into light
and the clocks, at last exhausted,
decide to stop counting.
